Kyle & Lauren | An Intimate Outdoor Ceremony at Warner Park
One of my passions in this job is photographing elopements. While the wedding on the blog today is not an elopement, it is easily one of the most memorable weddings this year because it reminded me so much of the thing I love about shooting elopements — the true reason behind having a wedding in the first place: love & marriage.
Kyle & Lauren have known each other for a few years but the timing was never quite right. Timing is a funny thing though, isn’t it? Although circumstances didn’t warrant a romantic relationship, it did allow Kyle & Lauren to move from aquaintences to friends and I’m a firm believe that relationships built upon friendship lead to the deepest roots of love in a marriage. Eventually, that friendship led to dating and it didn’t take long for them to realize this was the real deal. Merely four months after the proposal, Kyle & Lauren promised their lives to each other under the warmth of the sun surrounded by the most important people in their lives.
Lauren is by far one of the warmest individuals I’ve ever met — she exudes kindness, love, and positive energy to every single person she touches. You can’t help but want to be best friends with this woman!!! Kyle is confident, kind-hearted, and intelligent but more than anything, you can tell how deeply he cares about Lauren. These two have a partnership that is rooted deeply through their respect for one another and you can tell that there is truly nothing better to them than being married to their best friend!!!
As I stood behind my lens snapping photos of Kyle & Lauren’s first look, I was overwhelmed with gratitude — the emotion exchanged between these two souls spread through their embrace & carried over into every single photo. I love photographing big + beautiful + extravagant weddings (it’s in my DNA!) but the reason I love elopements so much is because it’s never about the production… the focus is never placed on having the perfect dress, the best dessert, the biggest bouquet, or the wildest dance floor. The couples who choose to elope generally do so because they simply cannot wait a second longer to marry their best friend — the production goes away and the sole focus of the entire day becomes the union of their lives. It’s true: Kyle & Lauren didn’t elope… in fact, they had the perfect outfits, the best desserts, incredible flowers, and a packed dance floor but through all of that beauty, the real meaning of their wedding day was not lost. The focus of their wedding was sincerely on the union of husband & wife and the true beauty that lies within a marriage.
Kyle & Lauren, you two are an extraordinary couple who are undoubtably headed for big things. I am so thankful to have documented your wedding day and can’t wait to see where this life leads you! xo
I adore the laughter & joy in this one!
A favorite for me!!! <3
Kyle’s Dad constructed this archway — isn’t it amazing?!
