Personal | DIY Floral Hoop Wreath

Happy Thursday!!!

BackstoryA few months ago, I toyed around with the idea of starting a personal website — a place for DIY projects, home renovations on a budget, decorating ideas, etc. — because I LOVE all things “home” related! However, I really haven’t had the time to dedicate to such a big project (hello, perfectionist over here). Eventually, I’m hoping my personal website dreams come to fruition but in the meantime, I thought I would share some of my personal projects on the blog I already have!

DIY Floral Hoop Wreaths

Who else has been drooling over the latest wreath trend?! The minute I saw wooden hoops being used to create floral wreathes, I knew my bank account was in trouble. I had this vision of putting big hoops over our bed but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend the money.. so HELLO, Pinterest! These hoops were so easy & fun to make!!! Really, anyone can do this — no green thumb required.

Supply List:

  • Embroidery hoop or metal hoop
  • Floral wire
  • Wire cutter or pruning sheers
  • Loose floral stems

Pick which side you’d like your flowers to hang on and twist your floral wire near the tension screw. This will help you down the road when you’re trying to hide this portion!

I started with greenery — this will end up being the base of the wreath and I wanted it to be the most abundant stem on the hoop! I also chose a minty colored stem because I wanted a soft, realistic looking wreath.

Next, I started layering pieces in! Once I wrapped my wire back down towards the tension screw, I added pops of color & bigger flowers to intentionally bulk up the design over the screw. Once I wrapped florals both above & below the screw, I simply flipped the hoop over and tied off the metal wire!

Tried & True Tip: I tied in the greenery with one long wire and secured that to the hoop. Then I added a second piece of wire to secure the flowers because it’s easier to update the flowers seasonally (if you want to!) — I had red flowers at Christmas but now that it’s spring, I wanted to put some pinks & whites in there!

Viola!! Here is the finished project above our bed, I love how it turned out!!!

This whole project cost less than $25 and I actually have TONS of stems leftover to make more wreaths down the road. Hopefully you enjoyed this little DIY project and it inspires you to make a floral hoop wreath of your own! I can’t wait to share more of our home projects in the coming months! <3
